A Special Gift

Today, right after our church service, I was so very blessed by a simple act of kindness that was wrapped up in thoughtfulness and love. My cousin's three daughters and their friend presented to me a book of their favorite scriptures.

On the cover were big letters that read, "hope." I should not have been astonished by the gift because they are lovely girls who often think of others and show love by acts of service and kindness. But I was certainly humbled and grateful.

I waited to read through it, knowing that I wanted to savor every word and not be interrupted by clamorings of "I'm hungry, Mommy!" and "Can we go now?!" I clutched it to my chest, giving each one of them heartfelt hugs.

The afternoon was full and a bit trying. Soon, I found myself needing to get away for a few moments. I was not in a very good place emotionally and could not wait to get alone to cry it out. As soon as I had thrown myself down on the bed (I'm not melodramatic or anything, btw), my tear-veiled eyes landed on the pretty pink bound book that heralded words of hope.

The favorite verses of these four girls talked of bountiful blessings, reassurance and, of course, hope. All of which are found in the Creator. After pouring over every word, my troubled spirit was calmed and I was able to rest, knowing that my Father and His Son loves me like no other.

And that love is sufficient to see me through each situation I face.

What an encouragement. What a joy. What a Savior!

Counting it all joy,

  2. God gives to us what we need exactly when we need it! I was also given two gifts similar to yours in my time of distress. Can you guess what it was? HOPE! One was from your dear Aunt it was also a book of scriptures. Gifts of hope must run in the family. The other was from my sister-in-law and it was inscribed with the word HOPE. I still cherish both to this day, it reminds me of future blessings, the past gets dimmer the more I see the HOPE. I'm looking for that blessed hope...."Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Titus 2:!3"

  3. So glad to hear this Christy Gale. Hope is indeed a blessed thing.
