Kisses and Giggles

The Extraordinary Ordinary
I just sat down to flesh out a post that has been rolling around in my head and I hear your bare feet on the wooden floor. You peek around the door jamb and I see your sleepy eyes and wide grin. You know you are supposed to be sleeping, but your coughing has woken you up and kept you awake.

I motion for you to come to me and your eyes clear. Your smile now shows teeth and your footsteps are louder as you race to my lap. I set the computer aside and move to my right making room for your little body to squeeze between me an the arm rest of the couch. I slip my arm around your shoulder and feel your warmth as you snuggle closer, deeper.

These moments are happening less and less, so I revel in the closeness we share. I lean over to smell your hair, knowing that it no longer has the smell of a baby, but of a little boy. I do it anyway. And then I kiss the top of your head.

You wiggle and squirm, but we both know you enjoy the kisses as much as I do.

"I love you," I say.

"I know." Is your reply.

And we giggle together.

Counting it all kid comfort joy,

  1. Oh, how those moments pass way too quickly!

  2. Yes, this. Exactly this.

  3. I know exactly what you mean. Got to grab those moments while we still can!

  4. Oh friend. Yes. I know these moments... and yes.

  5. This is so sweet. My little one is only 3 and a half months but it already feels like moments are passing by so quickly. I try so hard to make sure we get as much cuddle time in now while she still wants it.

Thanks for stopping by my site http://themamareviews.blogspot.com/
I have been browsing yours and am now a follower :) Would love if you followed me back

  6. This was so precious and I know just how you feel. I find myself holding my daughter in my arms (age 7!) as much as possible because I know I won't always have these moments the way I do now. So sweet!
