Quirky Me - the Writer's Edition

Hello Dear Reader,

One of my favorite people has begun her own blog, The Author's Attic. She's tagged me to do a fun questionnaire and so, that's what we're doing today! After reading, please visit Rolena to get to know her better too!

1. What kind of animal represents your personality type best? Well, I had to ask my children their opinion. You know how you ask a question and then when you get the answer, you immediately regret it? That's what I felt when I heard, "bear" and "lion." Not sure what I expected to hear, or even what I wanted to hear, but it wasn't either of those. So much for cute and cuddly. Haha!

2. If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?
I would love to go to Italy. A close second would be Ireland.

3. If you could be apart of one scene in a book which one and why? I think it would have to be the scene in Pride and Prejudice where both Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth declare their love for each other. (I'm such a sap!) Or the very last scene in the book of Voice in the Wind where Hadassah walks out into the arena and lifts her arms surrendering to the lions in the Roman arena while praising the Lord. Both are powerful scenes. Yowza.

4. What's your favorite genre to write and read?  I love to read historical fiction (to which the answer to the above question will attest). However, I haven't tried writing historical fiction.

5. Do you have a favortie Bible verse? I do.
Psalm 34:18
"The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit"

Lamentations 3:22-23
"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
6.  How many books have you written? I have written two. One children's book (set in Biblical times) and one YA fiction (a contemporary setting).

7. Who's your favorite author? I have several, but my two favorite are Tosca Lee and Francine Rivers. If you can only read one book from each of them, read "Havah" by Ms. Lee and "Voice in the Wind" by Ms. Rivers. Seriously, go do it!

8. If you could sum up your current Work-in-Progress, in one sentence what would it be?
It's a prodigal son type novel set in late 1800s/early 1900s.

9. What’s one food you couldn’t live without?
I cannot live without chicken. I could live without french fries, but I wouldn't want to! ;)

10. Are you a morning person or a night owl?
I am a night owl who is being forced to wake up earlier and earlier - much to my chagrin!

11. What’s the one thing you’d tell your younger writer self?
Just write. Get it down on paper and edit later. I have trouble editing myself as I go and it bogs me down big time!

There you have it, dear reader. Me, in a writerly nutshell.

Thanks Rolena for including me in the fun.

Counting it all joy,

  1. So fun to read your answers! As far as the Lions and bears, they could so be cuddly creatures! Just think teddy bear :) Thanks for doing these!
