A Sound Among the Trees by Susan Meissner and I have enjoyed it. It's a beautifully haunting book that explores the idea of how we allow our perception of past events help form who we are and filter our present experiences.
Now, I know I said it's haunting, but let me qualify that -- especially since Halloween was just on the calendar. The novel is not scary. Or weird. Or creepy. Or edgy. But it's haunting in a way that stays with you because of it's message. It leans toward melancholic, but is ultimately triumphant and redemptive. You must experience the melancholy to be fully appreciative of the redemptive spirit of the book.
I am excited to announce that I will be giving away a copy of A Sound Among the Trees courtesy of WaterBook Press. Woot! Woot!
They provided two copies to me. One for me to review and one for me to giveaway -- and all I had to do was give an unbiased review. Pretty cool.
