My Wonderful Ten Year Old

My oldest is ten years old.

A tall, handsome ten year old -- I can say that because he looks like his daddy.

A tall, smart, funny handsome ten year old who challenges me everyday. To be patient, to listen instead of making snap judgments, to be slow to anger and quick to forgive. To remember to see things through a child's eyes to enjoy life to it's fullest.

He taught me how to be a mother. Sure, I had the maternal instincts, but he taught me to rely on them. I only thought I knew what parenting was going to be like before he came along. Did I mention he's taught me humility?

I am so proud of my fifth grader. He is thoughtful, can be incredibly generous, and is protective of his siblings (when he's not arguing with them, that is).

God has blessed The Calm One and I beyond measure with this treasure of a son.

Love you, Man!

Counting it all ten year old joy,
