This morning when my husband informed me that the school had declared it a snow day, my heart sank. I hate snow days - especially Friday snow days. It makes for such a long weekend.
Normal mothers may not complain about a long weekend. But this is me and I'm quirky that way. With The Calm One's work schedule, weekends are especially tough. Hence the fear and loathing of snow days. Ick and double ick.
To my surprise, in spite of the snow, it's turning out to be quite a decent day. Praise the Lord! And it all started when my daughter asked me to write down the words to the song she was going to sing me. And I did. And it made me smile. I hope it makes you smile too. This song was
BTW, I've given you the abbreviated version. You are welcome.

I have a friend in New York Twitty
That's what I say - ay - ay
I have a friend in New York Twitty
On everything my mom said to clean up some money
My mom said, to make myself some breakfast and
What did my mom say? For everything no reason.
I don't know what she said to do
So I just picked up some cakes and cupcakes too
And my mom said to bake some Tootsie Rolls but I didn't know how to
So I just baked some apples and ate them up
Oh, oh, oh why did it snow? Snowing like winter and people miss school
and don't like school
And I'm chewing
And chewing
And she wanted me to keep on chewing
Poor mama baby!

A-hem.
Counting it all joy, dear reader

I like it! And yes, it is better than Lady GaGa.
ReplyDeleteI am also so ready for cold weather to be over!!
