Out of the Mouths of Babes

I had to laugh this week because . . .

Whirling Dervish
Our church building is under renovations, so we are temporarily meeting at another church (Thanks MFA!). The chickadees love their old church, though they are warming up quite nicely to the equipment in the gym of the church we are presently meeting in. At any rate, the kids are anxious to get back to our "old" church. Whirling Dervish mad this quite clear when he asked our pastor, "Pastor? Will we be getting back to our church after it's done being under destruction?!"

The Affectionate One
We were in the car on our way to the chickadees' very first play experience, The Gospel According to Scrooge. (It was excellent, by the way). Whirling Dervish asked who Scrooge is. I thought this would be a good time to give the kids a brief overview of the play, but in the midst of my explanation, "Scrooge is a old, grumpy guy . . ." The Affectionate One jumped in "And boy does he have issues!"

I was trying not to laugh out loud, but I couldn't hide it from The Affectionate One. "Why are you laughing, Mama? Doesn't he have issues?"

"Oh, yes. He definitely has issues. I've just never heard it put quite that way."

"Oh. Does his issues hurt?"

"Hurt?"

"Yeah, isn't issues a disease?"

What has made you laugh this week?

Joyfully laughing right along with you,

  1. I laughed when Li'l Empress royally commanded "Mommy. TUM. Up." after proclaiming "no like Daddy bobbul."

I thought I could fool her into letting Daddy do the night time routine. No dice. She's way too smart for me.
