Football - a household game

The Affectionate One is enjoying being the oldest sibling while The Cruise Director is visiting Nanny and Papaw for awhile. In fact she's taken over many of The Cruise Director's self-assigned duties. Arranging games and making up the rules to said games are at the top of the list.

If I hear, "My game! My rules!" one more time . . .

Today she asked Whirling Dervish if he'd like to play football (in the house no less). He readily agreed. Before I admonished them that football is not an inside game, I decided to wait a moment to see what would happen next.

The Affectionate One: Ok, in order to play right we have to pretend that I am the older sister and you are my little brother.

Whirling Dervish (cutting her off in exasperation): But it feels like we play that all da time!

And to think if you'd done the "Mommy" thing immediately you'd have missed that precious moment--another story for the books.

  2. My game. My rules. Now, that's a kid after my own heart.
