Works For Me Wednesday Put Masterpieces in Their Place

My children are like most, in that they love to draw, paint, color and generally create works of art worthy of being called masterpieces. Admiring each picture and sculpture is the easy part. The tricky part is figuring out what to do with the artwork once they've overstayed their welcome on the fridge door.

I used to box everything up intending to keep each piece. Then our basement flooded. And then it flooded again. And then a third time. Our landlord called it a quirky coincidence. We called it something else, but I digress.

We didn't lose artwork each time, we learned after the first time, thank goodness.

Our solution was to keep two or three pieces (from the whole school year) that each child especially loved and take pictures of the rest. We did wallet sized photos from our photo printer. Then the child helps scrapbook each picture. A piece of art in and of itself. If you and your child aren't quite that ambitious, just stick the photos in a brag book size album.

It saves space, helps to break the cycle of hoarding so prevalent in our family, and gives us a chance to create a new memory together.

Works for Me!
