The Joy of God's Promises

Tonight I was reminded of a few verses whose message and promise is of great comfort to me.

Titus 3:3-7
3For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

4But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

5Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

6Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

7That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

It's verse three and four that I especially honed in on tonight. Basically, after I've done all the stupid things I do, make all the mistakes I could possibly make, allow myself to be influenced by ungodly things and give in to temptations then the kindness and love of my God and my Savior appears toward me.

Me.

After all that.

Who does that?!

No one but God. Because He is merciful. And extends to us His grace. Grace, dear reader! Isn't that amazing? Doesn't that make you want to weep and jump up and down from sheer joy all at the same time?

Does me. Oh boy does it.

Because I know better than anyone how much I need it. And don't deserve it. But am privileged to grab onto it with both fists and not let go.
